Annotation
The aim of the course is to introduce students to basic terminology and key areas of human resource management as an integral part of the comprehensive organizational management process. The course emphasizes understanding the strategic role of human resources and recognizing the importance of the human factor as a specific and hardly replaceable resource in contemporary society. Particular attention is paid to recruitment and selection, employee onboarding and adaptation, training and development, performance appraisal, motivation, and compensation, as well as to occupational health and safety (OHS) and workplace ergonomics. The course also introduces current trends in human resource management and its links to other managerial disciplines. During seminars, the topics are practiced in an interactive and engaging manner through case studies, brainstorming exercises, discussions, and role-playing, enabling students to apply theoretical knowledge in model situations and to develop their communication, analytical, and teamwork skills.
Objectives
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

Outcomes
Upon completing the course, students will possess fundamental knowledge of human resource management and its key processes, including HR strategy, planning, recruitment, employee development, performance appraisal, and remuneration. They will understand the importance of corporate culture, ergonomics, and occupational health and safety as integral components of effective human resource management. Graduates of the course will be able to apply the acquired knowledge in both model and practical situations, analyse personnel-related issues within an organization, propose basic HR measures, and communicate effectively in a professional environment. They will also develop essential teamwork, analytical, and presentation skills.
Structure
The course will be structured as a two‑week module taught by two instructors. During the first week, students will be introduced to the fundamentals of human resource management, including key principles and basic terminology of the field. The second week will focus on occupational health and safety (OHS) and workplace ergonomics as essential components of effective management of working conditions. The course will emphasize interactivity, the completion of assigned tasks, and the active participation of students. This approach will enable learners to apply theoretical concepts in practice, engage with real and modelled situations, and develop a deeper understanding of HR and OHS topics through experiential learning.

- Evolution and Current Trends in HRM: Historical development of personnel management and contemporary trends in human resources.
- HRM Processes and Strategic Role of HR Departments: Key HR processes, roles of HR professionals, and HR as a strategic partner.
- Human Resource Strategy and Workforce Planning: HR strategy formulation, personnel planning, and talent management principles.
- Recruitment, Selection, and Onboarding of Employees: Employee acquisition methods, selection tools, and adaptation processes.
- Employee Development, Performance Appraisal, and Motivation: Training, career development, performance evaluation, and motivation systems.
- Compensation Systems and Corporate Culture: Remuneration, benefits, reward trends, and the role of organizational culture.
- Ergonomics in the Workplace: Principles and objectives of ergonomics; physical, cognitive, and organizational ergonomics; ergonomic risk factors affecting health, safety, and performance.
- Ergonomic Risk Assessment and Preventive Measures: Identification and assessment of ergonomic hazards, workplace evaluation methods, ergonomic interventions, and employee involvement in prevention.
- Occupational Health and Safety (OHS/BOZP): Workplace hazards and risks, legal and organizational principles of OHS, employer and employee responsibilities, and preventive and protective measures.
- OHS Management Systems and Case Studies: Safety management systems, training and awareness, accident and incident investigation, and presentation of student case studies focused on ergonomics and workplace safety.
